Happy National Taco Day! October 4th is one of my favorite holidays, and living in Texas is the best place to celebrate it. As your friendly neighborhood person, i have toiled long and traveled wide to eat tacos research tacos for you. If you’re in the taco mood, check out one of these places! These are not in a particular order. I’m sharing what I like but you can’t go wrong with any one of these places.

Mi Cocina/Taco Diner

I am linking these two because they are owned by the same people. However, I get different things at different places. For Mi Cocina, their piccadillo beef is absolutely love. At Taco Diner, I get a mix of their street tacos. Their tacos al pastor is a fun mix of pork and pineapple. At either place, I recommend you pair with their mambo taxis. They are margaritas topped with sangria and very much worth every dollar (read: strong).

La Ventana

La Ventana has a mex-y feel and has a lot of corn tacos for a great cost. I also like their tacos al pastor and their veggie taco. They also have delicious margaritas and OMG THE BEST churros that come to you warm and filled with caramel.

Fuzzy Tacos

The Fuzzys location at Carrollton probably saw me at least 2-4 times a month at some point of my life. When I need a regular regular ground beef taco, this is where I go. They also have delicious borracha beans. Their butt burning sauce is delicious and can be used liberally.

Torchy’s Tacos

So this is where I take out-of-towners for a taco. It’s more of a gourmet taco, in my opinion. Plus it is a tad costly at $3-5.50 for a single taco. However, their jerk chicken taco is delicious and the independent has held me over on many a vegetarian day. Their green chile taco is also amazing and comes in a personal size. As far as their hot sauce, enter at your own risk.

Velvet Taco

Velvet Taco is good for late nights in the Uptown Dallas area. Be prepared for a line, because it’s a Dallas favorite. But their tikka masala taco is life changing. Because the only thing better than indian food is indian food in taco form. Their elote is delicious.

Don Tacos

Don Tacos is my go-to for authentic tacos. That’s where I enjoy tacos al pastor and other tacos I have to google the names of. It’s located in Carrollton and I consider it my own little taco gem.

Honorable Mention: Taco Cabana

So I just love their fresh flour tortillas. And I enjoy the breakfast tacos.

I’ve been to many more places and had more tacos, but these are the places nearest and dearest to my heart. Wherever you wish to go, I wish you a most amazing taco session!
