So, I pretty much act like the typical American when it comes to the holidays. I eat from Thanksgiving until now, reasoning the guilt away with thoughts like “Well, it’s only here this time of year” and “Just one box of Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes. It’s tradition.” I try not to go over the edge, and I promise myself that after Christmas I’ll get back on track. So, as promised, now I’m making changes again. I also am going to be in a wedding by next May, so I have to cry now so I won’t have to cry at pictures later.

So what changes am I making? To start, I need to go on a cleanse to rebalance my body after the Great Holiday Binge of 2015.  In the past I have done a variety of things including the Advocare 12 day cleanse and Whole30. This time, I’m thinking of strictly following the paleo diet for about two weeks to kickstart my fitness/healthy push. I’ve learned that when eating clean, I need to come with a plan, especially ones that provides healthy snack options (I’m a serial snacker and I don’t plan to quit anytime soon).

One of my new favorite snack ideas is Chomps Snack Sticks. I’ve always heard that beef jerky is a good, healthy snack but I knew nutritionists weren’t necessarily talking about my beloved Slim Jims. Chomps Snack Sticks are just what the nutritionists ordered in terms of healthy beef jerky. For one, they are made with grass-fed, non-GMO beef. But also, for those of us who dabble in Whole30 from time to time, you can rest assured that knowing that this snack is Whole30 approved, meaning that it contains NO artificial ingredients (no nitrites, nitrates, MSG, colors, flavors). Guilt free and delicious, the great people from Chomps sent me three flavors to try – Original, Hoppin’ Jalapeño and Crankin’ Cran. My favorite was the Hoppin’ Jalapeño because I seem to love all these spicy at this particular juncture of life.

In addition to cleaning up my eating, I have to get going on my 5k training if I want to do the Hot Chocolate 5k in February. How far am I on it? Not at all. But I’m still hopeful and ready to start on healthy season! If you have any suggestions or want to share your fitness journey with me, be sure to let me know in the comments below!

Disclosure: I received Chomps Snack Sticks through BrandBacker as a free sample in exchange for my review. Opinions and corny jokes are 100% my own.
