One of my favorite parts about living in Dallas is that I always find something to do when I want to do it. And being from a small town in Mississippi, I never run out of things what I want to do. This time around, it was to experience a local production of Mamma Mia! by the Brick Road Theatre. And Oh, Mamma Mia! (Sorry I had to slip that in.)

While I have seen Mamma Mia a million times (I do own the DVD, as a matter of fact), I was surprised and delighted to see how much I loved it in person. The cast was extraordinarily talented, and it just filled me with glee to see them sing my favorite Abba songs and kill the dances. I will say my favorite number was “Does Your Mother Know” when the guys killed itttt with the best dance moves and a hot sequence of high jumps.

On a personal front, the production also inspired a desire to do musical theatre one day. I don’t want to be the lead singer, I have never and will never want to, but I am a good backup as long as you don’t make me dance vigorously at the same time. Maybe I can just be a waitress or shoe shiner that just sings in tune in the background. I also have a weird interest in how sets are rearranged so maybe I can just be a stagehand that sings in tune in the background. You never know lol.

If you are a Mamma Mia! fan like me, I strongly encourage you to check out a show! They will be in Dallas this weekend and next and you super don’t want to miss it. Tickets are available brickroadtheatre.org.
